Here are some pictures from the first Sunday skate of the 2006 season. Click on the thumbnails for a larger image. Below are the route and elevation profile of the skate. My GPS showed a distance of 10.2 miles (although Bill Saunders had a probably-more-correct higher number), and an average speed of about 5 mph. This compares to the average of about 9 mph on the last two Tuesday night skates. The elevation peak was coming off of the ramp at the end of the bike path; most everything else was downhill from there. As you can see, there weren't any significant hills on this skate. (If anyone is interested, my average heart rate today was about 118, as compared to 130 on Tuesday night.) We were moving for 1 hour and 26 minutes and stopped for 48 minutes. |
